Get Kent and Medway Working Plan
In October 2025 the Get Kent and Medway Working Plan was finalised – a significant milestone in the effort to reduce economic inactivity and boost employment across the region.
It is a joint strategy developed by Kent County Council, Medway Council, Jobcentre Plus and the Integrated Care Board partners. It sets out a clear and collaborative approach to tackling some of our most pressing challenges – including skills gaps, health-related barriers to work, and the high number of young people not in education, employment or training.
The plan proposes a series of targeted actions designed to make a real difference. These include personalised employment support, stronger employer engagement, and improved training pathways that reflect the needs of our local economy. Over the next two years, we will also be piloting employment support in GP practices and expanding apprenticeship opportunities to reach more people.
Governance will be led by the Kent and Medway Economic Partnership, ensuring the plan remains responsive to local needs and is regularly reviewed and refined.
The ambition is clear – to build a more inclusive, skilled and resilient workforce for Kent and Medway, and to ensure that opportunity is within reach for everyone.
