As a KMEP board member you will help shape regional economic strategy and investment, engage with central Government, and put a strong business voice at the heart of decisions.

You’ll build senior networks, raise your profile, and work collaboratively with key regional stake holders to drive growth, nurture new opportunities, and work to remove market barriers.

We are not a talking shop. We are here to get things done and see how working collectively as an area, we can make a step-change in everyone’s economic prospects.

Roles Available

  • Industry board members from Kent’s priority sectors:
    • Energy
    • Digital (inc. Digital Manufacturing, Digital Creative, AI, etc)
    • Food & Drink
    • Ports, Transport & Logistics
    • Kent Promotion (Advertising, PR & Tourism)
  • Private sector Thematic Lead:
    • Community Wellbeing & Prosperity
  • KMEP Chairman

What KMEP Does

  • Act as the local economic growth board for Kent & Medway.
  • Embed a strong, independent, diverse business voice in local and national decision-making.
  • Consider and develop responses to new economic opportunities and challenges.
  • Approve, drive forward, and monitor local growth plans aligned with national strategies.
  • Interact and lobby with national government and local MPs.
  • Consider strategic investment priorities through public funding.
  • Commission funded projects and programmes.

Important Information

  • Location: Kent and Medway
  • Non-remunerated, voluntary role
  • Closing Date: 31 January 2026
  • Time Commitment: Minimum of 4 board meetings per year, plus additional engagement as required.
  • Tenure: Initial appointment of 2 years.
